Dalton's First Day of Kindergarten!

Wow! I can't believe this day is already here! Today was Dalton's first day of Kindergarten. Dalton has been looking forward to this day for a long time. Dalton really wanted to ride his new bike to school so I loaded Gunnar and Ridge behind my bike and we all rode to school. Dalton was so excited! I walked him into his class room and helped him hang up his back pack. We took a few more pictures then he sat in his chair at the table with his name on it and waited for school to start. It was such a weird feeling for me to just have to walk away and leave him. I cried a little, but I think I cried harder when he started preschool last year. I know he's ready for kindergarten and he's gonna do great! Mrs. Smith is his teacher, we've heard great things about her and she seems really nice. When Dalton got done with school I asked him how he liked it and he said he loved it! I asked him what his favorite part was and he said recess!

Jake and Shane left early this morning to go deer hunting in Wyoming for the week. So I decided to invite Geana and her boys over for family night. We had spaghetti for dinner and Geana made cupcakes for dessert. Braxton taught the lesson. He brought a container with water and talked about how sinning makes us dirty, demonstrating by putting food coloring into the water, then when we repent we can become clean, demonstrating by pouring bleach into the water. The kids thought that was pretty cool. We then played a game out of the Friend magazine about making good choices at school. It was a nice night. Between our two families there are six little boys 6 and under! It gets a little crazy sometimes, but it is so nice that our kids get along so well and that our families have so much in common. We're sure grateful for them!

Ridge's Blessing

Today was Ridge's blessing day! The day started off pretty hectic, trying to get all the food and kids ready for church and the luncheon afterwards. I woke up with a killer headache. I tried taking some tylenol and a few swigs of Pepsi but nothing was working. Finally I asked Jake if he would give me a blessing because I really needed to be able to function. He did and within seconds after the blessing my headache lifted to just a dull ache and I was able to function the rest of the day. We made it to church early enough to fill out the blessing certificate. Ridge's blessing was beautiful! Jake did such a good job! I'm going to type a few of the things that Jake said in Ridge's blessing while I still remember so Ridge can read this one day. He talked about how Ridge's start in this life was pretty scary and how the Lord has a special purpose for Ridge. He talked about the Legacy of righteous living Ridge has to follow from his great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents who were all there to support him this day. It was a really beautiful blessing. The whole chapel was crying. Such a special day. I was so nervous that Ridge would cry during the blessing, or that Dalton and Gunnar would be too rambunctious for me to even hear it, but everything worked out perfectly. When Jake and Ridge sat back down, Jake handed Ridge to me and Ridge just smiled for like five minutes! Gunnar was watching him and he said, "I think Ridge wants to do that again, he liked it!"

After sacrament meeting we all went to the Lion's Club park for the luncheon. We had sloppy jo's, salads and treats. Here's a few pictures of the day. We didn't get around to doing a family picture with Ridge still in his blessing outfit so the family picture was taken just before we put the kids to bed we all look a little goofy but oh well.
